Year 1 & 2 2018 - 2019
Welcome to Year 1 & 2
Our spring term topic is...
'Are we all animals?'
This term we will be learning about animals including humans. We will begin by identifying, naming and labelling parts of the human body before moving on to explore the basic needs of animals including humans. The children will develop an understanding of the importance of hygiene, exercise and diet and will begin to identify which body part is associated with each sense. They will learn how to identify a variety of common animals and will have opportunities to observe and sketch animals in a variety of settings including Chester Zoo, the countryside of Tattenhall and Marshalls Arm Nature Reserve.
We will be exploring a range of animal peoms and stories and learning some exciting Talk for Writing texts, including: How the Tortoise Got his Bumpy Shell, The Day the Zoo Escaped, Class Two at the Zoo by Julia Jarmen, Storm Whale by Benji Davies, Elmer by David McKee, Zoo and Gorrila by Anthony Browne.
Please have a look at our topic web to see all of the other exciting things we are learning about!
